On May 11, 2023, dozens of golfers came together at the Golf Club of Houston for the Coalition for the Homeless’ inaugural “Driving Home” charity golf tournament. With the course lined with statistics on homelessness, the goal of the event was to build empathy, explain the complexities of the issue, and garner support and patience for housing as the solution to homelessness. Because much like the game of golf, the work to house the most vulnerable is about the long game.

Thanks to bronze sponsors Cadence Insurance and Camden, multi-sponsor Kirkland & Ellis, and hole-in-one sponsor Group 1 Automotive, the tournament was a success by all accounts!

Players had a fun time on the course with the rain holding off during a week that had been filled with storms. Golfers opened their hearts, challenged their thoughts, and together raised more than $40,000 to support the Coalition’s work toward its vision of a Houston community where everyone has a safe place to call home.
