Houston Chronicle shares Coalition’s Charrette Information

The Coalition for the Homeless of Houston/Harris County will hold a series of meetings starting next week to get ideas from the community about how to prevent and end homelessness.
The goal is to draft a community action plan after meetings to be held on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Aug. 28.
The meetings come on the heels of the coalition’s annual count of the homeless, which showed a 14 percent drop in from 2011. Houston, targeted by federal officials as a priority community, has an opportunity to build on that momentum, said coalition president and CEO Marilyn L. Brown.

“We’ve laid all the groundwork and recognize the seriousness of the issue, but we have to include the faith and business communities and individuals,” Brown said. “We have to have more than people in the business of providing the services to get to the next higher level of ending and preventing homelessness.”
